Tracking slim rain chances tonight

TODAY: Tuesday is a warmer day with highs forecast in the mid-80s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Winds are variable today, from the east to southeast through the day.

TONIGHT: A few showers and thunderstorms are possible after 5 p.m. tonight.

EXTENDED: This rain continues into Wednesday with morning shower chances, but coverage should be spotty, with many staying dry to start the day. Highs on Wednesday will again be warm, potentially reaching the upper 80s to near 90 degrees ahead of a cold front. The cold front will enter the north early in the day and likely generate scattered showers and thunderstorms south of I-70. A strong storm cannot be ruled out. Cooler and drier air is forecast for Thursday and Friday, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s expected. This is a small cooldown, but it keeps us mild before an expected warm-up over the weekend and the early part of next week, when highs are expected in the low 90s.
