Three cooling centers open in Columbia for relief from dangerous Saturday temperatures

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Pettis, Randolph and Saline counties until 7 p.m. Saturday, and a heat advisory for the rest of mid-Missouri until 10 p.m.

ABC 17 Stormtrack meteorologist Kevin Schneider said the humidity will make the outside temperatures feel like almost 110 degrees in some areas of mid-Missouri.

To stay cool and out of the heat, Columbia has three cooling centers open on Saturday:

The ARC, 1701 W Ash Street

7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Columbia Public Library, 100 W Broadway

9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Columbia Mall, 2300 Bernadette Drive

10 a.m.-9 p.m.

The cooling centers are free and open to the public.
