Department of Conservation looking for suspects in illegal Cole County dumping case

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is searching for a suspect or suspects after about 60 tires were dumped on public land in Cole County.

According to the MDC, Agent Chris Horn got information from a citizen about the tires being dumped at Stringtown Bridge Access, 10 miles southwest of Jefferson City on Highway C.

“We partner with Missourians to ensure the conservation areas and accesses remain clean, safe, inviting, and are used appropriately,” said Agent Horn.

Investigators believe the tires were dumped at the 50-acre conservation area sometime between Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 20.

The Department of Conservation asks anyone with information about the violation to contact Agent Horn at (573) 690-6295 or christohper.horn@mdc.mo.gov.

“We would much rather spend the public’s tax dollars and our efforts on other conservation projects than picking up and disposing of trash,” said Horn.

You can also call the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1-800-392-1111 to anonymously give information about the tires or other ongoing investigations.
