Warming weekend, storm chances
TONIGHT: Overcast skies look to remain in place across Mid-Missouri into the night, with some areas of fog expected to develop. However, winds out of the north up 7 mph could keep many areas from seeing the fog, as drier air tracks in. Overnight it will be cool, with a low of 61 degrees.
SATURDAY: An organized cluster of storms, or MCS (mesoscale convective system) is expected to track into southwest Missouri early in the morning. The bulk of this activity will remain south of I-44, but can’t rule out a few storms as far north as the Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Reservoir. Most areas will stay dry until afternoon when we pick up another slight chance of storms with the best chance south of I-70. There is a marginal risk of severe storms south of I-70 with damaging wind and large hail the main threats. Highs will reach the low 80s under partly sunny skies and a southwest wind up to 8 mph.
EXTENDED: Saturday night will be warmer with lows in the mid to upper 60s. The warming trend continues Sunday as we reach the mid to upper 80s with more humidity, making it feel like the low 90s when factoring in the humidity. Only isolated storms are expected Sunday with most of the day dry and warm. Sunday night, storms are expected to move in from the west after 9 PM with most moving through in the late-night hours into Monday morning. Storms will end and we’ll see highs in the mid to upper 80s but by late-afternoon, we are watching for possibly another line of storms moving in from the west. We’ll see more storm chances Tuesday morning and again Tuesday night into Wednesday before the weather turns drier and hot for the remainder of the week. High temperatures reach close to 90 Tuesday then jump into the mid 90s for the rest of the week with heat indices 100-105. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
