Brief cool down before heat & humidity makes a comeback
FRIDAY: The work week will end with mild temperatures, only reaching the mid 70s with northwesterly winds up to 13 mph. Spotty showers are possible again with the best chance of rain east of HWY 63, however anything will be short in duration and low in intensity. Showers will continue to taper off in the evening as the low pressure system pushes to the east.
TONIGHT: Under mostly cloudy skies and winds out of the northwest, temperatures are going to drop into the low 60s through the night. By daybreak it will be cool, with some areas seeing temperatures in the 50s.
EXTENDED: Saturday will start off dry with partly cloudy skies, but as a decaying cluster of storms approaches from the southwest we will see increasing rain chances Saturday afternoon. If the system holds together for areas south of I-70 we have a chance to see strong to severe storms with damaging winds and large hail the main threats. Areas south of I-70 are under a marginal risk for severe weather. We’ll warm in the low 80s Saturday and into the mid to upper 80s Sunday. Only isolated storms are expected Sunday with most of the day dry and warm. It will feel more humid Sunday as dew points climb into the upper 60s. Temperatures will continue heating back up next week, reaching 90 by Wednesday. We’ll have a chance of storms each day in parts of Mid-Missouri as the heat returns.
