Two pedestrian crashes on average every month in Columbia

According to crash reports, there are on average two pedestrian crashes a month and one cyclist crash per month in Columbia.

Retiree Lillian Davis blames these statistics on the side-walks.

Davis is forced to use an electric wheel chair to get around due to her arthritis and she said she’s an avid reader and like to make her way to the library.

“I almost got hit twice today, there is not enough room on the sidewalks,” said Davis.

Two other residents on Worley Street said they cannot stand together on the sidewalks. They walk side-by-side, but one walks on the street.

“The sidewalks are too narrow,” said Gerald Gardner.
