Equipment malfunction to blame for weekend power outages

An equipment malfunction is to blame for power outages in Cooper and Howard counties over the weekend.

According to Ameren, there was an equipment malfunction for an overhead sub-transmission line feeding a substation near Boonville.

The Cooper County Memorial Hospital and more than 1,800 people lost power Saturday.

Ameren said the outages started between 5 and 7 p.m.
