Swimmer rescued from Jefferson City pool
A person was rescued from an aquatic center in Jefferson City on Thursday afternoon.
The Jefferson City Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry said lifeguard staff and three members of the community pulled the unresponsive swimmer from the water at Memorial Park Family Aquatic Center around 2:50 p.m.
The department said life-saving techniques were performed on the male until emergency medical services arrived. At that time, the swimmer was alert and refused further medical treatment, according to the release.
The department said its aquatics staff goes through hours of education training to prepare to be lifeguards. Staff members also go through in-service training throughout the pool season.
