Weather pattern becomes active to end the week

THIS AFTERNOON: We’re tracking partly cloudy skies through the rest of this afternoon, the influence of Alberto will continue to keep us breezy and hold temperatures in the mid to upper 80s for most of us. Winds will continue out of the west around 10-13 mph, gusting to 20 at times. We’ll see winds slowly die down into the evening.

TONIGHT: We’ll drop to the upper 60s tonight under mostly clear skies with just a slight southwest breeze from 3 to 7 mph. Showers will increase south of I-70 after 4 AM allowing for a soggy morning commute.

EXTENDED: Rain is possible Thursday morning as weakening storms move in from southeast Kansas. The best chance of morning rain is south of I-70. In the afternoon, storms are expected to develop as an upper level wave moves through. There is a marginal severe threat Thursday afternoon for isolated storms with damaging wind and large hail. Highs will reach the upper 80s Thursday but will climb into the lower 90s Friday as mostly sunny skies return. Heading into Saturday, a few storms are possible in the morning but a better chance comes in the afternoon and early evening as an area of low pressure moves in from the west. Storms are expected to develop with the best chance along and east of HWY 63 Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s Saturday but will drop into the lower 80s Sunday behind this storm system, giving us some relief from the hot weather weather we’ve seen recently.
