Mild and humid night, with AM storms for Thursday

TONIGHT: It’ll be a warm and humid night across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 60s and lower 70s under mostly clear skies. While quiet conditions are expected through most of the night, an MCS that is expected to develop in Kansas will track into Mid-Missouri after 4 AM. Storms initially could be on the strong side, but are expected to weaken into the morning.

THURSDAY: Widespread storms are expected for the morning commute, with a few strong storms possible. Areas that see heavy rain could initially see some fog development through the morning hours. Storms are expected to weaken through the morning, with a debris of clouds expected to stick around. This will likely keep temperatures slightly cooler than initially expected. A marginal risk for severe storms is possible Thursday afternoon, as storm redevelopment is possible near I-44. The main threat for any storms will be damaging winds and quarter size hail. However, afternoon storms are hinge on if the atmosphere can recover following the storms from Thursday morning. Highs are expected to top out in the middle 80s.

EXTENDED: The hot and humid conditions return Friday, as brief ridging slides into Mid-Missouri. this will lead to highs once again climbing into the lower 90s. However, the humidity will make it feel more like the mid to upper 90s. Heading into Saturday, a few storms are possible in the morning but a better chance comes in the afternoon and early evening as a weakening MCS tracks out of Iowa. The MCS is expected to redevelop along a frontal boundary in Mid-Missouri, where we could see widespread strong storms lasting from Saturday afternoon into the evening. Right now the SPC is highlighting most of MId-Missouri having a decent chance for severe storms. Storms are expected to clear out by late Saturday night, with dry and fairly seasonably conditions to return by Sunday. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest updates to the forecast.
