Tips for staying safe in hot weather Memorial Day weekend

The National Weather Service released tips for staying safe in this hot weather. ABC 17 Meteorologist Kevin Schneider forecasted Memorial Day temperatures will top out in the low 90s in many locations on Sunday.

Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water Wear sunscreen with at least 30 SPF and reapply every two hours or after sweating or swimming Wear light colored and loose-fitted clothing Limit strenuous outdoor activity. Take lots of breaks and find shade often Check on the elderly and those without air conditioning Check on your pets Never leave a child in a hot car Check to make sure the child’s seatbelts are not too hot when buckling them up
