Morning rain drying out, hot & humid weekend ahead
THIS AFTERNOON: Short range weather data continues to indicate that this morning’s rain has helped stabilize the atmosphere, so we are looking to clear out headed into this afternoon. As our clouds decrease we’ll see a bump up in temperatures into the low to mid-80’s.
TONIGHT: We stay dry this evening as skies continue to slowly clear out as temperatures dip into the upper 60s. However, due to the rain over the past week and a half, humid conditions will hold overnight.
EXTENDED: Overnight Friday a developing storm system could be affecting our southern counties by Saturday morning, again the best chance looks to be south of I-70 in the Ozarks. Saturday will be hot and humid with high temperatures in the lower 90 and heat indices up to 95 degrees. There is a slight storm chance late in the afternoon and evening but most areas will stay dry and hot Saturday. Memorial Day weekend is looking to remain on the toasty side, as highs climb into the low 90s under mostly sunny skies and nights in the upper 60s. Heat indices (what if feels like when combining humidity and temperature) will reach into the upper 90s. Storms are not expected Sunday or Monday.
