More than 80 bills passed in Missouri chambers so far in 2018 session
As the Missouri legislative session winds down, as of Thursday, only three bills have officially made it to the Governor’s desk for signature.
ABC 17 News looked into the number of bills that have been passed so far this session. 52 House bills and 31 Senate bills have been recorded as truly agreed and passed. This gives a total of 83 bills so far up for the governor’s signature.
Comparing to 2017; 37 House bills were truly agreed and passed; 39 bills out of the Senate were truly agreed and passed with the governor signing 68 of them.
Lawmakers in both the House and the Senate told ABC 17 News last Wednesday chamber leadership has decided not to send bills to Gov. Eric Greitens for final approval until they absolutely have to.
House Speaker Todd Richardson and Senate President Pro Tem Ron Richard have until May 30 to send bills approved in both chambers to the governor’s desk for signature.
House Communications Director Trevor Fox said waiting to send bills to the governor is common.
