Mizzou graduation backs up traffic on E. Stadium Blvd. at S. Providence Road
More than 5,500 students graduate this weekend from the University of Missouri, which mean there is traffic congestion on East Stadium Boulevard. at South Providence Road.
ABC 17 News talked with parents and those graduating who said it’s expected with events like this and why it’s important to leave early.
One graduation attendee, Greg Ilewski said it’s a choice to be upset but he decided to be patient and enjoy a day of happiness.
“There’s not many things in life that are that important that you have to be in such a hurry that you need to get upset about. So take your time. On a gorgeous day like today, why get in a hurry that you get to the point that you’e upset?” Ilewski said.
The University Police Department said it brought out extra officers for this weekend.
A lieutenant with the MUPD said even with the traffic, everything is running smoothly but if you are trying to get somewhere choosing an alternate route is in your best interest.
