Scattered showers and clouds leads to cooler Friday afternoon
FRIDAY: A decaying MCS is leading to some scattered showers and storms for Mid-Missouri this afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder is possible through the early afternoon, but the overall trend shows any rain coming to an end through 1 PM, with clouds breaking up following the exit of the rain. Due to more clouds than anticipated, today will actually be a fairly comfortable day. Highs will only top out in the lower 80s across the region, but it will be breezy with winds out of the south up to 20 mph and gusting as high as 30.
TONIGHT: Temperatures will only drop towards 70 tonight as winds remain breezy out of the south under mostly cloudy skies.
EXTENDED: The warm weather pattern continues into the weekend, bringing daytime highs into the 90s with nights in the upper 60s. We remain dry into the weekend, as a shallow upper level ridge keeps any afternoon storms to the north of HWY 36 in northern Missouri. Saturday afternoon looks partly cloudy and very warm as we reach the upper 80s to near 90 and southerly winds up to 12 mph. Mother’s Day will be a dry and toasty one, with temperatures remaining in the low 90s under partly cloudy skies. Next week still looks warm with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s and a better chance of storms tracking into the region as a boundary finally makes its way further south into our area.
