Pace of jury selection in Greitens’ invasion of privacy case may push back start of trial
The pace of jury selection in Gov. Eric Greitens’ invasion of privacy case may push back the start of the trial.
Judge Rex Burlison said he may have to prepare for the trial to begin next Wednesday, rather than the anticipated Tuesday start.
Both prosecutors and defense attorneys have questioned several individual jurors based on what they’ve heard about the case facing Greitens and if they’ve already formed an opinion about his guilt or innocence. Forty to sixty jurors chosen from the original 160 people called will form a second jury pool subject to even more questions.
So far, each side has agreed to seat 24 people in the second pool. Judge Burlison has asked for different ways to speed up the selection and questioning process.
