Pedestrian hit by vehicle, driver arrested after fleeing from scene, officials say

A 80-year-old man has minor injuries after getting hit by a vehicle in Mexico Wednesday morning, officials say.

According to police, at 9:36 a.m. they were called to the 400 block of Fairground regarding a vehicle hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene.

Investigators say the vehicle was heading south on Fairground and was weaving through some traffic congestion when it hit Charles Thomas, 80, who was attempting to cross the street.

With the help of the community, authorities say they were able to locate the suspected vehicle and driver in an apartment complex a few blocks away.

Nikolas B. Clark was arrested shortly after and taken to the Audrain County Jail, officials say.
