Tebbetts human remains identified by Boone-Callaway County Medical Examiner’s Office
Authorities with the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office said Boone-Callaway County Medical Examiner’s Office have identified human remains found near Tebbetts as those of Shaun McGee, 39, of the Jefferson City area.
McGee’s remains were found along County Road 486 near Tebbetts on March 30, according to an official press release.
The Boone-Callaway County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the death was due to methamphetamine use, and there was no evidence of foul play.
Despite all the attention the opioid crisis is getting, Detective Tom O’Sullivan with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office said meth is still a huge problem in Missouri.
On Thursday, O’Sullivan said they were serving a warrant and found those in the house were meth users.
“It’s not uncommon at all for us to come in contact with it. It’s a highly popular drug, causing a lot of problems. People are overdosing on it and it’s just something we are battling every day,” O’Sullivan said.
According to Phoenix Health Programs, in 2016 alone there were 207 lab busts and 50% of people who are seeking treatment name meth as their drug of choice.
McGee’s next of kin have been notified.
