The City of Columbia and Boone County leaders meet on the Grace Lane traffic study findings

City of Columbia and Boone County leaders met today to discuss the findings of the Grace Lane Traffic study.

They reached an agreement that demolishing fifteen homes to widen the road is the best choice and they plan to send a proposal to the council.

ABC 17 looked in crash reports on Grace Lane in the last five years and there have been two accidents.

But, the study suggests with increased growth in the area, this congestion and traffic will only get worse.

Thaddeus Yonke, the Boone County Traffic Planner, told us this is the cheapest and best option over the short and long-term.

Councilman Karla Skala said it most likely won’t happen and they will find another solution, “without the necessity for condemning anybody’s property.”

The city and county say this is just the beginning, the council will determine the decision.
