Man arrested for statutory rape, sodomy with 16-year-old female

Jerome Buschman has been arrested for statutory sodomy after engaging in sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old female victim.

The victim went to the police department with her parents and said she had at least four different sexual interactions with Buschman since Aug. 2016.

Buschman would pose as the victim’s father by calling the school to grant her early release. Then, the victim and Buschman would go back to his house and engage in sexual activities. The victim’s parents gave the police documents that proved that the victim was granted early dismissal on Sept. 9, 2016, Sept. 23, 2016, Oct. 14, 2016 and Nov. 11, 2016.

Buschman’s job allows him to leave early on Fridays, and every date that the victim was granted early dismissal from school were Fridays.

The police read Buschman his Miranda rights, and he admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse and oral sex with the victim.

ABC 17 News contacted Jefferson City Public Schools to see if the victim was a JCPS student.

Officials could not confirm but sent the following statement:

“JCPS administration has been made aware of a situation that may involve one of our students. Procedures are being reviewed and we will continue to work with the appropriate authorities.”

As of Wednesday night, Buschman remained in the Cole County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
