Investigative committee meets at Capitol as legislators shift focus to budget

UPDATE: Tuesday’s meeting has been canceled. Legislators were behind closed doors for less than 15 minutes. They’ll meet again Wednesday morning at 8.

ORIGINAL STORY: The special committee investigating Gov. Eric Greitens will meet at 2:45 Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson City.

This is its second meeting this week. Monday night, the committee released an addendum to its original report, in which it disputed claims made by the governor that his former mistress had given inconsistent testimony.

Lawmakers on the committee said they plan to meet until the end of the legislative session. Members of the House and Senate have begun to shift their focus to the upcoming budget deadline.

By law, they must have a budget ready to go and on the governor’s desk by May 11. Lawmakers appointed people to negotiate a final version of the state budget.
