UPDATE 3:26 P.M.: ABC 17 reached out to ALDI O’Fallon Division Vice President Rob Jeffries, who sent the statement below:

The ALDI store located at 1000 East Green Meadows Road in Columbia, MO, continues to remain temporarily closed due to water and smoke damage caused by a delivery truck fire. In the meantime, please visit our other Columbia-area ALDI location at 807 Business Loop 70 West in Columbia, MO. We regret any inconvenience or concern this situation may cause.

At ALDI, the safety of our employees, customers and the community are our highest priority, and we are thankful no injuries were reported. We will be sure to follow up when we have information regarding a reopening date.

ORIGINAL STORY: Investigators with the Columbia Fire Department said a refrigeration unit on the trailer that was parked by the Aldi grocery store is where a fire started on April 22.

Authorities have ruled the fire an accident, and are still working with staff members at the 1000 East Green Meadows store to determine a damage estimate.
