Fulton police get reports of scammers claiming to be from Callaway Electric Co-op

Fulton police are warning customers of Callaway Electric Co-op about fraudulent activity.

Customers who have been victims of the scam claim that they are receiving calls to send a money order for their accounts.

Police said they have spoken with Callaway Electric Co-op who said this is not how they handle transactions.

Officers are asking residents to be suspicious of anyone requesting money order, gift cards, or other forms of payment. Do not give out personal information or banking account numbers over the phone, police said.

Callaway Electric Co-op customers should not be intimidated by threats of arrest or criminal charges. Police said if anyone is worried about having a potential warrant, contact the department.
