Cold start to the week

TODAY: Heading back into the work week it is going to be a chilly start as temperatures begin in the 20s. Unfortunately we look to remain cloudy through the day. As a warm front lifts northward, spotty showers will increase late in the day across most of the viewing area, as temperatures only rise into the lower 40s by 5 PM. A few rumbles of thunder look likely late this afternoon, with a chance of a stronger storm.

TONIGHT : As the warm front continues to lift tonight winds will become breezy out of the south allowing for a continued warming trend all night long. Temperatures will rise into the 50s by morning time as skies stay cloudy and rain chances increase through the night.

EXTENDED: After a steady climb in temperatures Tuesday morning, winds will shift out of the northwest by the afternoon behind another strong cold front cuts through the area. Ahead of the front we have the potential to spark off a few strong-to-severe storms Tuesday afternoon as well. With moisture present ahead of the storms there could be enough instability to see an isolated potential of damaging winds, and a threat for large hail. Our southeastern counties are under a marginal risk for severe weather. Wednesday morning looks cold behind the front as temperatures begin in the 20s and we struggle to rise in the 40s, but we will see full sunshine. The weekend looks to be well below average again, with the potential we could see more snowflakes by Friday night. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest forecast and updates.
