Wanted fugitive resists arrest in Callaway County

Callaway County deputies arrested Michael Fitch, 37, and Tiffany Cox, 28, on Saturday afternoon after officers conducted an investigative traffic stop on Interstate 70.

Officers said when they stopped the car, Fitch refused to exit it. Fitch was a wanted fugitive for felony tampering with a motor vehicle, deputies said.

Officers had to forcibly remove Fitch from the car and he was taken into custody.

Deputies saw Cox had possession of drug paraphernalia and she was also taken into custody.

Fitch faces possible charges of resisting arrest and is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Cox completed bond and was released.

Deputies said Vandalia police had been looking for Fitch for days.
