Columbia police arrest man accused of assaulting woman, threatening to kill her

Columbia police arrested Jamal Jackson on Thursday after officers were dispatched to a disturbance.

The victim told police Jackson assaulted her and threatened to kill her. He was also accused of strangling, punching, and kicking her.

The victim also said Jackson grabbed her by the hood of her jacket and pulled her to his car.

Officers said the victim had a cut on the left side of her neck.

According to the probable cause statement, Jackson got a rifle in the car and pressed it against the victim’s thigh and said he was going to kill her.

Police said the victim was able to get out of the car and went back into her apartment but Jackson followed her. Jackson was accused of walking back into the apartment and threatening the victim and her cousin with a knife.

The victim told police that Jackson has become more violent towards her in the last few weeks. He has strangled her multiple times and threatened to kill her with knives in the past.

When officers arrested Jackson, he was accused of saying that he was going to purchase a new gun since the rifle was taken for evidence.
