Camden County deputies looking for suspects accused of setting roadside fires

Camden County deputies are looking for at least one suspect accused of intentionally setting two roadside fires in the area of south Highway 5 and Willow Creek Road on Thursday afternoon.

Deputies said the first fire was set between 3 pm and 3:15 pm. Minutes after firefighters cleared the scene, they were sent back to the same area for reports of another fire.

Officers said evidence was left at the scene to indicate that the fire were intentionally set.

Several outbuildings were destroyed and homes were placed in danger, deputies said.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said, “These criminals need to be caught before someone is seriously hurt or worse.”
