Columbia police arrest man accused of assaulting a pregnant woman

Columbia police arrested Joshua McWilliams on Tuesday night after he was accused of assaulting a pregnant female victim at a residence in the 4400 block of Stevendale Drive.

Police said McWilliams spit on the woman, punched her in the face and slammed her on the ground which caused her to injure her leg.

Officers said they also determined McWilliams, a convicted felon, was in possession of a stolen gun.

McWilliams faces possible charges of domestic assault, unlawful for certain persons to possess concealable firearms and stealing. He was also accused of having two outstanding felony warrants.
