Jefferson City police increases patrols in March

The Jefferson City Police Department today announced its participation in two, statewide road-safety measures taking place in March.

The department said in a news release it would increase saturation patrols from Thursday through Sunday in preparation for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The release says other law enforcement agencies will participate in similar patrols over the weekend.

In a separate release, the department said it will do its part to step up statewide enforcement of seat belt violations through the end of March. Only 70 percent of Missouri’s teens wear seat belts while riding or driving in a motor vehicle, the release said. Under the Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) law, teens and all passengers must wear a seat belt in order for teens’ licenses to be valid.
