Woman dies in Miller County structure fire
UPDATE 2:30 pm: Firefighters said the fire happened near a recliner. The remains of a heating pad and an extension cord were found in the area.
Officials said the items were unable to be eliminated as a possible cause. There were no smoke alarms in the residence.
ORIGINAL STORY: Cole County firefighters said a woman died in a structure fire on Tuesday night.
Firefighters said they responded to the 500 block of Old Ten Mile Road in Miller County at 5:20 p.m. for reports of a fully involved farm house.
Firefighters said when they were on scene they were notified a person was possibly inside of the residence. Firefighters were not able to get inside of the structure due to the intensity of the heat and flames.
Officials said a female was later found in a back bedroom and the coroner was notified.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 45 minutes but officials were on scene until 11:30 p.m.
Early Wednesday morning, firefighters said there was reports of an explosion at the same residence. When firefighters got on scene, the structure was totally involved in flames and on the ground.
