Windy conditions and light snow mark return to Winter

***Wind Advisory until 6 PM Tuesday for Benton, Boone, Callaway, Camden, Cole, Cooper, Gasconade, Howard, Phelps, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Osage, Saline and Pettis counties***

TUESDAY: It’s an extremely windy afternoon across Mid-Missouri, as winds are gusting as high as 45 mph in many spots. Into the afternoon hours, as a low passes to our northeast, we’ll continue to see winds gust in the 45 to 55 mph range. Temperatures are already falling into the upper 30s and lower 40s, as cooler and drier air wraps around on the backside of the aforementioned low. Through the day, we’ll begin to see some scattered showers track in from the northwest, as the flow around the low remains cyclonic. With falling temperatures expected, any light showers we see will bring the potential for a changeover to snow by evening. Little to no accumulation is expected as we’ve seen several days of warmth across the region.

TONIGHT: Any rain and snow will quickly diminish after midnight tonight as cloudy skies hold on. Winds will remain breezy out of the northwest up to 22 mph gusting up to 25 mph, which will allow temperatures to drop into the upper 20s through the night. By morning you will need to bundle up as you head out the door with wind chills back in the teens.

EXTENDED: After a winter like start to the day tomorrow, it will remain cool both Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low to mid 40s and lows below freezing. Clouds will decrease by Wednesday bringing sunshine back into the forecast. We’ll warm back into the 50s Friday as clouds build back into the area bring our next chance of rain by Friday night. Saturday remains mild with highs in the upper 50s with a chance of showers, but cooler air returns by the end of the weekend with highs on Sunday back in the 40s.
