Two teens detained after school threat at Jefferson City High School

Two 15-year-old boys from Fulton are detained after police say they made a threat to a student at Jefferson City High School.

Jefferson City police say the threat was made via-phone to the Jefferson City High School student.

Investigators with JCPD said the threat did not appear to be a prank.

“During the investigation, which involved a threat utilizing a firearm against the victim, a suspect was developed within less than 1 hour and was found to reside in Fulton, Missouri,” said Capt. Doug Shoemaker. “Police detectives assisted in the investigation and with the assistance of the Fulton Police Department and Fulton Public Schools, were able to determine that the suspect, a 15-year-old male, was assisted in carrying out the threat by another 15-year-old male.”

Police said the victim knew both suspects, but that there had been no prior threats.

The two teens were taken to Boone County juvenile detention services on charges of terroristic threat and peace disturbance.

“We greatly appreciate the quick notification by Jefferson City School officials and the cooperation of everyone who was involved in taking this threat seriously,” Said Shoemaker. “Any and all school violence threats should be immediately reported to authorities, and the victim, as well as the students who encouraged the victim to report this, are to be commended for their actions.”
