Red Cross assisting five adults, two children displaced after Jefferson City apartment fire

On Friday at 7:25 p.m., the Jefferson City Fire Department was called to a structure fire on the 200 Block of Center St.

According to the official press release, the first crews to get to the scene saw smoke showing from the second floor of the multiunit apartment building.

Firefighters extinguished the fire while other fire crews conducted a search and confirmed that all occupants made it out of the building. There were no reported damages.

The fire damage was contained to room of origin but smoke and water damage extended throughout the apartment .

The release stated a total of 18 fire personnel were on scene. Five adults and two children were displaced, but are receiving assistance from the Red Cross. The release said the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
