No. 11 Mizzou women’s basketball falls to No. 17 Texas A&M to end regular season
The (11) Mizzou women’s basketball team ended the regular season on a low note falling to (17) Texas A&M 82-63 ending its chance at a top-4 SEC seed.
The loss drops Mizzou’s record to 23-6 (11-5 SEC) as Mizzou will be a six seed in the SEC tournament and earn a single bye. The Tigers will face the winner of the 11 and 14 seed game between Ole Miss and Florida in the SEC tournament. That game will take place in Nashville Thursday night.
Mizzou struggled offensively shooting just 38 percent from the field and 33 percent from the three. The Tigers struggled defensively as well allowing Texas A&M to shoot 56 percent from the field.
Sophie Cunningham was the lone bright spot offensively for Mizzou finishing with 19 points on 7-11 shooting. Jordan Frericks and Cierra Porter were the only other Tigers to finish in double figures.
The Tigers and Aggies were close out of the gates, but Mizzou coughed up a 16-4 lead to end the first half to trail by 18 at the break.
Mizzou did not respond well in the second half as the Aggies extended their lead. The loss is the largest margin of the season for Mizzou.
