One arrested and one hit after fight leads to motor vehicle crash

Mexico Department of Public Safety officers arrested Damian Wagnone, 17, on Tuesday after they were called to the 800 block of North Calhoun regarding a fight and a motor vehicle crash.

Officers said a 16-year-old was in his car, parked in a private driveway, when a group of people arrived and parked their truck behind the car.

The group was accused of surrounding the 16-year-old’s car in attempt to get him to fight. The boy tried to drive away and hit a 15-year-old girl and the truck in the process.

Police said Wagnone proceeded to assault the 16-year-old.

Wagnone was taken to the Audrain County Jail and faces possible charges of assault.

The 15-year-old was taken to a local hospital for her minor injuries and was later released.

Officers said it was determined there had previously been an argument between the parties before the altercation.
