Light snow & freezing drizzle chance tonight
TONIGHT: Light snow will increase through the evening north of HWY 24 as a band of snow moves from west to east across northern Missouri. Light snow is possible south of I-70 by late-evening but will be very light and spotty. Snow amounts will be minor with most areas getting no accumulation to a dusting. Areas near HWY 36 in northern Missouri could see up to 2 inches. Also, a glaze of ice is possible south of I-70 with the best chance near and south of I-44 due to freezing drizzle. Precipitation will taper off after midnight and as snowfall ends, temperatures will drop to near 15 degrees by Wednesday morning. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with winds out of the northwest up to 11 mph producing single digit wind chills.
WEDNESDAY: Skies will clear with high temperatures only reaching the low 30s with northerly winds up to 10 mph.
EXTENDED: Thursday brings nicer conditions to Mid-Missouri as we warm into the mid and upper 40s. This warming trend will be very short-lived as another system will begin to slowly track into Mid-Missouri by the weekend. A frontal boundary that will be west/east oriented will be slow to move through the region. As it will be tracking into Mid-Missouri, several upper level disturbances will ride the disturbance and bring a chance for some winter precipitation.Temperatures will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s through Sunday, before another warming trend early next week with chances of rain.
