Victim identified in Sunrise Beach fatal fire

Firefighters released the name of the man that was killed in a fire in Sunrise Beach on Feb. 2.

Authorities said George Duff, 56, was found deceased in the residence when crews arrived on scene.

ABC 17 previously reported crews responded to the area of Old Sunrise Acres Drive and Beachwood Avenue at 1:26 a.m. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire but the preliminary investigation leads crews to believe that a faulty wood stove was the cause.

Firefighters said the house was “totally destroyed.”
