Cold start to the weekend, but one day of relief

FRIDAY: After a bitter cold start to the day, temperatures will only reach the low to mid 30s Friday afternoon with sunshine to start the day. Clouds will slowly increase as winds as light winds shift out of the south.

TONIGHT: It will be a tad warmer tonight with southerly winds in place, but temperatures will remain below freezing. Overnight lows will drop to the mid 20s by morning under mostly cloudy skies. Winds up to 12 mph will create for wind chills in the teens.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will briefly climb into the low to mid 40s Saturday afternoon. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, but it will be dry. A fast moving wave of low pressure will move through Sunday, bringing another chance of light snow as temperatures drop. Sunday will be very cold, with highs only reaching the upper 20s and lower 30s, falling to near 10 Sunday night. This weekend kicks off a fairly active weather pattern that will lead into next week, with another chance of light snow or wintry mix Tuesday. Temperatures across the 7-day remain below average, with the exception of Saturday. We are tracking another system that could bring us a wintry mix.
