February kicks off on a cold note

THURSDAY: A second cold front moves through today and temperatures will fall through the day. The high temperature will occur early in the day as a reinforcing shot of cold air drops temperatures from the mid 30s in the morning to the mid 20s by the evening commute home. Clouds will gradually clear by evening with diminishing northerly winds to near 6 mph.

TONIGHT: It will be the coldest night in the 7-day forecast as temperatures drop steadily through the overnight hours under clear skies. Low temperatures will drop just below 10 by daybreak with wind chills close to 0. Luckily, northerly winds will be fairly calm from 3-5 mph.

EXTENDED: After a bitter cold start to the day, temperatures will only reach the low to mid 30s Friday afternoon with increasing clouds and light winds shifting to the south. Temperatures will briefly climb into the low 40s Saturday. There is a slight snow and rain chance Saturday morning. It looks to start off as snow, but briefly changing to rain once temperatures reach above freezing, which will change back to light snow showers by Saturday night. At this time, little to no snow accumulation is expected through Saturday night. Another fast moving wave of low pressure will move through Sunday, bringing another chance of light snow. Sunday will be very cold, with highs only reaching the upper 20s, falling to near 10 Sunday night. This weekend kicks off a fairly active weather pattern that will lead into next week, with another chance of light snow Tuesday. Temperatures across the 7-day remain below average, with the exception of Saturday. Watch ABC 17 news and check back on our website for updates to your forecast.
