Pleasant today, with winter returning as February arrives
WEDNESDAY: It’s a fairly nice day across Mid-Missouri. This afternoon we’ll have a mix of clouds and sunshine and temperatures will be mild, warming into the upper 50s. Winds will start off near 15 mph and die down to 10 mph by evening, shifting to the northwest as a weak cold front moves through. We will remain dry with the frontal passage.
TONIGHT: Northwesterly winds tonight will bring in colder air by morning as lows drop to 30 under mostly cloudy skies. Winds up to 13 mph will drop wind chills into the low to mid 20s.
EXTENDED: A second cold front moves through Thursday and temperatures will fall from the upper 30s Thursday afternoon into the teens Thursday night with single digit wind chills by early Friday morning. A few flurries are possible Thursday morning with significantly colder conditions to follow. Skies will gradually clear on Thursday leading to some sunshine by the afternoon. We will only reach the low 30s Friday afternoon under partly cloudy skies. After a cold end to the work week, temperatures will briefly climb into the 40s Saturday as winds shift to the south once again. The warming won’t last long as another surge of cold air moves in Saturday night. There is a slight snow and rain chance by Saturday late in the morning. It looks to start off as snow, but briefly changing to rain once temperatures reach above freezing, which will change back to light snow showers by Saturday night. At this time, little to no snow accumulation is expected through Saturday night. Another fast moving wave of low pressure will move through Sunday, bringing another chance of light snow. Sunday will be very cold, with highs only reaching the upper 20s, falling to near 10 Sunday night.
