Man suffers non-life threatening injuries in Jefferson City shooting

Jefferson City police are investigating a shooting that happened on Tuesday night in the area of W. McCarty and Hart Streets.

Witnesses told police a car left the area at a high rate of speed.

Officers were able to find the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Inside of the vehicle, there was an 18-year-old suffering from a non-life threatening wound to the torso.

Police said neither the victim nor any of the other 3 occupants would cooperate and provide a location for the shooting.

Officers said they canvassed the area looking for evidence or any other victims. Police found a handgun and a container with marijuana in the 1200 block of W. McCarty Street.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
