North Carolina man charged with leaving the scene of an accident in Boonville

A North Carolina man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident in Cooper County.

According to the probable cause statement, John Mongkhonthavone was backing up a tractor trailer when he collided with another tractor causing over $4,000 worth of damage.

Mongkhonthavone was accused of leaving the area immediately.

Mongkhonthavone told police he left the area because he was afraid of getting in trouble.
