Belle man charged with a DWI that caused the death of another

A man has been charged with a DWI that caused the death of another after officers responded to a single-car crash on Dec. 9.

Troopers said the crash happened on Missouri 28 when a Jeep traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign support post. After traveling off the roadway, the Jeep struck a ditch and began overturning. Both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the Jeep.

Officers said they saw Budweiser beer cans inside the Jeep and on the ground near the vehicle.

Troopers said the driver of the vehicle, Tanner Schroeder, was unconscious but smelled strongly of alcohol.

A witness said they saw they saw the two men enter a Casey’s before the crash and appeared to be intoxicated.
