Tracking a warmer Tuesday followed by evening storms

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and comfortable with lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Increasing clouds with a spotty shower possible. Highs in the upper 80s with a heat index in the low to mid-90s.

EXTENDED: We'll see a bit more cloud cover tomorrow and perhaps a couple sprinkles as winds shift to the southwest. We could see a couple different scenarios play out in regard to storm chances later in the day. We could see development in the afternoon/evening to the north that weakens by evening into our area, or morning storms stay to our north and leave an outflow boundary for a round to develop toward evening closer to I-70. Either way, a few storms could be strong with isolated damaging wind gusts being the primary concern, along with locally heavy rain at night as low level winds pick up. The best chance for widespread rain will be Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with a few showers possible on Wednesday as the front lingers in the area. Showers and a few storms are possible early Thursday in the southern part of the area near the front, but we can expect a drier and cooler afternoon with highs in the low 80s. The weekend looks pleasant with northwest upper flow that will keep temperatures in the low to mid-80s. We'll have to watch for a few disturbances to bring more wet weather to the forecast, but for now that chance appears to be low.
