Columbia leaders, safety advocates to continue traffic safety town halls
City staff and safety advocates will continue a series of town halls Monday looking for ideas to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries.
The meetings are a part of the city’s Vision Zero plan to eliminate deaths and serious injuries by 2030.
Members of the community in the 2nd Ward of the city will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Lange Middle School. The Vision Zero team said it wants to hear from residents about problem areas and how they think those areas should be fixed.
During the first three Vision Zero town hall meetings, residents asked for more traffic enforcement, slower speed limits, better lighting and striping and educating children about pedestrian safety.
Sixth Ward residents will be able to meet Tuesday night and the 5th Ward meets Wednesday night.
