No arrests made after investigation finds inappropriate conversation between Tipton students

No arrests were made after an investigation found Tipton High School students were talking “inappropriately” on Wednesday.

ABC 17 reached out to Superintendent Dr. Terry Robinson about the incident. He responded with this statement:

“The safety of our students is always our highest priority. We are proactive and thoroughly investigate any student communications that may cause concern for the safety and welfare of our students. We also maintain close, professional relationships with our local police and county police. We follow our school board policies regarding disciplinary incidents, which are aligned with state law in order to maintain a safe and orderly environment for our students. A rumor was spread in our community that one or more students were arrested yesterday and that these students had an active plan to “shoot up” our school. This rumor is not accurate. Our school investigation revealed conversations between students that were not appropriate for the school setting and we have followed our policy
regarding that conduct. No one has been arrested and no weapons or plans were discovered on or off campus by our district or the local police. We are thankful to have a strong collaborative relationship with our local law enforcement and appreciate their support during our combined investigation to ensure all students are safe at Tipton School District and our wider community.”
