State democrats call on governor to sign affidavit for criminal allegations

Missouri Democrats called on Governor Eric Greitens to sign an affidavit Wednesday stating that he did not use state money to suppress an extramarital affair prior to taking office, among other topics.

The affidavit has five statements that Democrats hope to have addressed by Greitens. One reads, “I certify that I did not blackmail, threaten or intimidate any person(s) with sexually explicit photographs to conceal an extramarital affair.”

Another reads, “I certify that no State or tax-payer funded resources, nor any resources from my campaign or A New Missouri, Inc. were used to facilitate an extramarital affair.”

Governor Greiten’s Press Secretary, Parker Briden, had no comment on the affidavit on Wednesday.

The announcement comes after Greitens was accused of blackmailing a former mistress with a naked photograph before running for office.
