Missouri S&T student charged with making terroristic threats
A Missouri S&T student was charged with making terroristic threats on Wednesday after saying he was going to open fire on campus with an assault rifle.
According to a press release from Missouri S&T, Alexander Beetler allegedly made the threats on Jan. 21. Beetler was nowhere near campus or Rolla at the time of the threats.
Beetler was taken into custody after police stopped him near Lebanon. A weapon was not found on his person or in his car.
According to the press release, Missouri S&T did not send out an alert because there was no immediate threat to campus or the campus community.
Missouri S&T University Police got a search warrant for Beetler’s home, where they found ammunition and weapons.
Beetler is still in custody and has been temporarily suspended from Missouri S&T.
