Gov. Greitens denies any blackmail, continues to “move forward”

Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, swarmed by reporters asking him about allegations of sexual blackmail, said, “there was no photograph for blackmail. There was no threat of using a photograph for blackmail. There was no violence.”

The governor repeatedly responded to questions on the allegations by saying that he and his family “are moving forward for the state of Missouri.” Greitens has admitted to having an extramarital affair before running for governor, but has denied any accusation of criminal activity.

Monday’s presentation of the governor’s budget recommendations was the first time he appeared publicly since he was accused of threatening a former mistress with a naked photo before taking office.

Greiten’s initial statement on the criminal allegations included an apology to his wife, family and the state of Missouri for his “personal mistake,” and continued denial that any act of blackmail took place.
