UPDATE: Sedalia homicide suspect turns himself in

UPDATE (1/21): Sedalia police said Lewis turned himself in Sunday. He’s being held on a $500,000 bond.

ORIGINAL: Sedalia police said the Pettis County prosecutor obtained an arrest warrant for a man allegedly connected to the homicide of a Sedalia woman.

Police posted the update on their Facebook page Friday. Police said the warrant is for the arrest of Justin K. Lewis, also known as Country, 28, formerly of Sedalia.

Police said the warrant is for second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police said they were originally dispatched to an assault with a weapon Jan. 15 in the 400 block of East Seventh Street, and when they arrived officers found 33-year-old Heather McClellan.

McClellan later died at Bothwell Regional Health Center from apparent stab wounds, police said.

Police said Lewis is considered armed and dangerous, and if anyone knows his whereabouts, they should not approach him, but should call the nearest law enforcement agency.

Pettis County CrimeStoppers offered a reward of up to $1,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of Lewis, police said.

Police said anyone with information about the death of McClellan can call the Sedalia Police Department and speak with Detective Jill Green at 660-827-7823 ext. 1213, or 660-221-8832.
